Press Release

Warrenton, OR – On Saturday, November 20, 2021, around 7:51pm the Warrenton Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot of Walgreen’s (1625 E. Harbor Dr.) for a stabbing. It was reported that an employee had been stabbed while in the parking lot and the suspect fled the area on foot. WPD officers arrived and while one attended to the victim the other officer began searching the area. Officers from the Astoria Police Department and Deputies from the Clatsop County Sheriffs Office also arrived in the area and assisted in looking for the suspect.

The suspect was described as being a man wearing a black hoodie with white lettering on it and armed with some type of knife or edged weapon. He was last seen running through the parking lot east side Walgreen’s.

The victim, a 70-year-old Warrenton man, was transported by Medix to Columbia Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department for treatment. The victim has a serious injury, but it is not life-threatening. His current status or condition is not available.

The Clatsop County Major Crime Team (MCT) was activated to assist in the investigation and are working the case along with the WPD. The MCT is comprised of members from each law enforcement agency in Clatsop County and coordinated by the District Attorney’s Office.

Other people in the area were interviewed as to what they saw. The investigation continues as we contact businesses in the area to check their video surveillance systems to see if any part of the incident was recorded. It is unknown if this was a random incident or not, and we do not know any motivation at this time.
