Public Works Utility Worker II


City of Warrenton Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Utility Worker II. Salary range 18: $2,889.70 - $3,515.42 monthly. This is an AFSCME union position with excellent benefits including PERS/OPSRP, Life and AD&D insurance, Section 125 flexible spending and deferred compensation accounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.

REQUIRES: Valid Oregon Driver’s License with a CDL endorsement, HS diploma or equivalent, preemployment background check, physical and drug test.

Also requires 3 years of experience in operation of heavy construction equipment, a Class I Distribution Certificate, a Cross Connection Certificate and a Class I Collection System Certificate. Two years of
experience as a Utility Worker I may substitute for the heavy construction experience.

Desirable qualifications include possession of a Class II Distribution Certificate, a Class II Collection System Certificate, and a herbicide/pesticide applicators certificate.

POSITION: Under the supervision of the Public Works Foreman, the Utility Worker II constructs, maintains and repairs streets, water mains, sewers, pumping stations, dikes and stormwater systems, parks
and other city properties and buildings; maintains motor vehicles, pumps, valves and other equipment. Requires ability to do heavy lifting and work in extreme weather conditions.

DUTIES: Ranges from meter reading, installation and repair of water meters; water and sewer lines;
constructing and repairing asphalt, concrete curbs and sidewalks; and other duties associated with water, wastewater, street, and drainage system maintenance. Cross training in other areas such as parks maintenance, wastewater and water treatment plant maintenance as assigned. Weekend work and stand‐by time required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with backhoe, dump truck, and other related equipment. Preference will be given to those with utility work experience.
