The City of Warrenton, located in Clatsop County, on the beautiful northwestern tip of Oregon, is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the mighty Columbia River on the north. It was platted in 1889, and incorporated as a city under the laws of Oregon in 1899. The City of Warrenton was named for D.K. (Daniel Knight) Warren, as an early settler. Clara Cynthia Munson, elected Mayor of Warrenton in 1913 was the first woman mayor in Oregon.
The City provides a full range of municipal services, including two marinas that serve both a charter and large commercial fleet. Current population is 5,050. Warrenton's local government is organized according to a Commission-Manager type system in which the legislative and policy-making body is a popularly elected Commission consisting of 5 members. The Mayor is selected by the Commission at its first meeting each calendar year.
